Crataegus contains the herb Hawthorn. Hawthorn berries have been known for containing flavonoids, as well as tannins, pigments and vitamins. The fresh herb tincture of Hawthorn may be used to improve heart health and circulatory disorders.
Hawthorn berries have been known to increase blood flow to the heart. This rapid action may improve circulatory disorders including high blood pressure, may prevent the hardening of the arteries, and may prevent varicose veins. Hardened arteries can result in heart-attacks, while varicose veins can be very painful and impair walking ability.
