A. Vogel Herbal Insect Repellent is based on a combination of Neem and other essential oils. Neem oil has been used traditionally for a variety of medicinal and agricultural purposes. It has insecticide properties that make it particularly suitable for use as an organic insect repellent.
Recent studies have shown that the use of chemically-based insecticides (especially those that contain DEET) may be detrimental to the health of children as well as adults. Heavy exposure to these chemicals can lead to memory loss, headache, weakness, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, tremors and shortness of breath. Symptoms are normally not immediately evident and may manifest months or years after the fact.
Authorities have warned that it is not recommended to use chemical insect repellents on infants and children since their skin more readily absorbs external compounds.
