Comvita Children’s Herbal Propolis Elixir is a yummy cough remedy that has been formulated with children in mind. It can potentially clear up a range of scratchy throat irritations and coughs and contains Manuka honey with a powerful rating of UMF 10+. Further ingredients include bee propolis.
Mankind has been using bee propolis for healing purposes for centuries. It was used in ancient Greece to treat abscesses, in Assyria to heal wounds and during the mummification process in Egypt. Propolis is, in essence, a versatile resin produced by bees during the construction of their hives. It contains beeswax and –secretions that are combined with extractions of the buds of conifer and poplar trees.
This nutrient-dense substance is said to simulate the immune system and to protect the human body against a variety of illnesses and infections. Despite these obvious health benefits, scientists have not yet found a way to synthetically recreate propolis. This is largely due to the fact that it contains certain complex compounds that are so advanced that we are yet to properly identify them!
This herbal elixir does not contain any artificial colourants and preservatives, which means it is suitable for children over the age of 24 months.
